Natural Help With Snoring Problems

January 30, 2009 on 8:55 am | In Remedy For Snoring | No Comments

The best help with snoring problems are long-lasting preventative remedies.

home remedies for snoring

The best help with snoring problems is that which gets at the root of the problem. That’s not to say the prescriptive solutions don’t have their place. prescriptive remedies do play an important role in helping you cure snoring, but they are temporary and not to be the reason for overlooking preventative snoring remedies that can actually cure snoring forever.

Preventative Help With Snoring Problems

The help with snoring problems that fall in the preventative category cure your snoring as opposed to hiding it or compensating for it. Your long term plan for curing snoring should involve these strategies. There are likely three reasons why you snore. Find out which of these reasons apply to you and then treat it in order to get rid of snoring permanently. Those three reasons are:

  • Weight
  • Allergies
  • soft palate tissue

Lose Weight To Stop Snoring

If you are overweight, it is very likely that this is the very cause of your snoring. The best help with this snoring problem is simply to lose some weight. Sometimes losing only ten pounds is often enough to stop or greatly reduce your snoring. If losing this weight doesn’t help, then try losing another ten pounds. Keep losing weight in increments of ten pounds until the snoring stops. You can also use the next remedy to help further. All other kinds of help with snoring problems pale in comparison to the effectiveness of this solution.

Controlling Allergies Can Help With Snoring Problems

The cause of your snoring could be due to congestion resulting from allergies. One of the best things you can do if you have serious allergies is to cut sugar out of your diet. This includes all fruit juice. Even though 100% natural orange is all natural, the natural sugars in it still feed your allergies and make them worse. If you want to enjoy fruit to be healthy, then eat it. The concentration of sugar is a lot lower.

In addition, if you have sever allergies then make sure you have allergy-proofed your house. Don’t get lazy about this.

Strengthening Throat Tissue To Stop Snoring

Finally, the cause of your snoring could be due to flabby throat tissue. Just like any other flabby tissue or muscle on your body, if you exercise it, it will harden and become stiff. There are serious of throat exercises you can do to strengthen the tissue in your throat and the muscles in your neck and jaw that will stop snoring. Do these exercises daily to stop snoring.

Short Term Help With Snoring Problems

This kind of help with snoring problems only covers up the malady rather than treating it. I wouldn’t suggest using any of these kinds of remedies exclusively because at the end of the day you will still be a snorer. However, they are very useful for stopping snoring right now if this is necessary. These remedies include:

  • Chin Straps
  • Mouth Pieces
  • Snoring Sprays
  • Pillows

The list goes on. None of these successfully help with snoring problems for everybody because no solution is one-size-fits-all. You will need to experiment with them to find out which one helps you.

The greatest help with snoring problems are the home remedies for snoring that get at the root of the problem and cure your snoring completely. The short term remedies are appropriate for short term use while you are implementing one of the preventative approaches.

Jonathan has developed a whole series on home remedies for snoring that he would be glad to share with you. Just send him an email at treatsnoring@aweber.com. Treat Snoring.

Stop Snoring Pillow-Discover The Benefits

January 30, 2009 on 8:53 am | In Stop Snoring Devices | No Comments

If you have ever slept with a heavy snorer you will know how this can affect a relationship. A snorer’s partner will regularly search for answers to the problem, much more than the snorer themselves until they admit they have a problem that needs tackling. One of the suggested aids to ease snoring is a stop snoring pillow.

Snoring is more common in men, but as we age it becomes more likely in all men and women. Other factors known to increase snoring include drug use, alcohol, smoking and the way we sleep. People who often snore constantly tend to sleep on their backs, and to get them to change position for longer than five minutes can be impossible. This is where a stop snoring pillow may help.

As a first option, a stop snoring pillow could prove useful particularly for those who don’t like taking pills, inserting devices, using sprays or the thought of having surgery. One type of pillow is placed behind the snorer’s back to stop them sleeping on their backs but more recent ones tend to align the neck, spinal column and head to reduce any breathing obstruction. Some of the stop snoring pillows also vibrate to encourage a change in sleeping position. These have audio detectors that respond to snoring by vibration of varying intensities until, hopefully, the snoring stops. A few of these even have an external audio jack so the snoring can be recorded!

Added benefits of stop snoring pillows can occur because of their orthopaedic design. Such benefits include headache and migraine pain relief and the promotion of a correct posture. So not only can stop snoring pillows reduce, and in some cases eliminate snoring, in doing so, they may also improve your relationship with a partner, allow you to wake-up refreshed in the morning and give you a new quality of life away from the worry of waking everyone else up! A useful addition to these pillows is to follow a set of specific exercises that are designed to help stop snoring quickly.

Will A Stop Snoring Mouthpiece Help Stop Snoring?

January 30, 2009 on 8:53 am | In Stop Snoring Devices | No Comments

Will A Stop Snoring Mouthpiece Help Stop Snoring?

If you are a heavy snorer you are unlikely to be popular if you ever have to share a bedroom! Until you realize that you have a problem, you are unlikely to try and do anything about it. A stop snoring mouthpiece is just one of your options depending on what type of snorer you are.

Firstly, you need to ascertain what causes you to snore. For example, are you a ‘tongue based snorer’ where your tongue slips back and obstructs the airway or perhaps a ‘mouth breather’ where the air being sucked in can create a lot of vibration; which may, or may not be because of an abnormality in the construction of the nasal passages or small nostrils that would force you to breath through the mouth. Stop snoring mouthpieces are one option that may work if vibration is the problem.

A stop snoring mouthpiece needs to be initially fitted/moulded to your mouth and when worn, it acts by keeping the mouth and tongue in the correct position and stopping the vibration. There are two types of stop snoring mouthpieces, one you can mould to fit yourself and the other has to be fitted by a dentist. This ‘mandibular advancement device’ actually moves the jaw and tongue forward by between 0 and 12mm (depending on the specific device), raising the soft palate and thus preventing any blockage of the airways that could lead to snoring.

Be aware of potential problems should you have false teeth, gum disease or any mandibular joint dysfunction in which case you should take professional advice. Other things to watch out for when buying a self-fit device is whether or not any sideways movement is, and/or the ease of any possible mouth breathing as this is not possible with some stop snoring devices.

Stop snoring mouthpieces are just one option and there are other possibilities such as anti-snoring pillows, nasal and throat sprays, other medications and exercises, or perhaps changes to the diet before you even have to consider surgery.

The remedy that works for the individual will differ according to how and why you snore. It is perhaps wise to consult a medical practitioner before you start buying any products. If you don’t like the thought of putting a stop snoring mouthpiece device into your mouth all night, why not think about one of the anti-snoring pillows or another option your are invited to consider is the use of specific exercises.

Easy Snoring Exercises For No More Snoring

January 30, 2009 on 8:53 am | In Exercises for Snoring | No Comments

Snore-stop Exercises

If you are a person who snores and have not heard about snoring exercises, then maybe your curiosity has now been peaked. The first question that you may wonder about doing anti snoring exercises is do these exercises really help you stop snoring or are they just another scam?

Nowadays, because of many scams that prey upon our problems and aliments, caution and skeptic thoughts may cause us to quickly dismiss remedies that are new or different, or make us think that they are not worth even trying. This is also true with the suggestion of snore stop exercises claim to reduce your snoring problems entirely!

But a second look at snore stop exercises are founded on the basis of scientific fact and principle that snoring is caused by weak throat muscles collapsing during sleep, and by toning the throat and jaw muscles through the means of direct exercises may cure your snoring completely.

Snore-stop exercises are aimed at toning the muscles around the throat. The exercises are to be done daily for just a few minutes and are very easy to do. One of the first suggested exercises is done by opening your mouth as wide as you can, hold for a few seconds and then close it, making sure that your lips meet. The next exercise is to pucker your lips like you’re about to kiss someone. Hold this position for about ten seconds before relaxing. The third recommended exercise is to smile as widely as you can, hold the smile for a few seconds and then relax. These mouth exercises can be performed in any order that you would like, and can be mixed for morning variations.

If you think that you are snoring due to the tongue falling back in your throat, then there are also a few exercises for that problem. Make sure your tongue stays centered while sticking it out as far as it will go, hold your tongue out for a few seconds before relaxing. The overall goal is to stick your tongue out as far as you can daily, and try to make it go further each day.

Take 20 minutes out in a day to sing out loud for keeping your neck and throat in shape. Although there are anti-snoring kits and CD products that are to contain the best songs for teaching the most prominent neck and throat exercise songs to stop your snoring problem. These particular songs are yet to be proven over any other songs being sung with a lot of mouth and throat movements. So just sing what ever your heart desires as long as you are really working your vocals and throat.

Snoring exercises would have to be the most natural way to curb snoring issues with no side effects that might come from other products. If considering whether snoring exercises really do help you stop snoring, think about the fact that this is free remedy and it couldn’t possibly hurt to try it before moving on to other therapies or anti-snoring products. These exercises can also be used along with other remedies such as nasal drops or any other non-evasive anti-snoring remedies and in comparison to money spent on other products- it may be worth a few minutes out of your day!

Laser Surgery For Snoring - A Simple And Quick Option To Stop Snoring

January 30, 2009 on 6:56 am | In Remedy For Snoring | No Comments

I’m going to talk about the different types of laser surgery for snoring available today. Snoring can be considered as one of life’s major problems. It can affect you and your sleeping partner. A permanent solution to snoring is laser surgery.

This type of surgery is the best solution for snoring problems to date. It is popular because its effect is permanent and is technically safe. The effectiveness of laser surgery for snoring is evidenced by uvuloopalatopharyngoplasty or UPPP.

But to be really safe, you have to be in the hands of an expert when undergoing this type of treatment therapy. You need the help of a qualified health expert. After surgery and the required recovery time, you will experience an almost immediate relief to snoring.

If you compare laser surgery to the tools and devices used for snoring, the former would fair better. All others can only provide for a temporary solution to snoring. Laser surgery, on the other hand, can give permanent relief. This is why laser UPPP is the one most popular today.

While there are other types of laser surgery for snoring, only one thing is their main goal - to remove all the blockages present in your mouth or throat that are causing you to snore. The uvuloopalatopharyngoplasty or the UPPP is a type of laser surgery that aims to remove the patient’s tonsils, along with some parts of the uvula and soft palate.

There are actually two kinds of laser surgery for snoring. The more preferred type is laser-assisted, which is the main point of interest here. When it comes to price, the laser-assisted UPPP is a lot cheaper than traditional UPPP. Here, the uvula will not be removed totally, rather it is shortened. The soft palate will be vaporized with the use of the laser beam.

The other type of UPPP is referred to the traditional method. That one requires the use of anesthesia. If laser-assisted surgery is performed under local anesthetic, traditional UPPP surgery needs general anesthesia.

The only problem with this method is the fact that the tonsil should be removed before the actual procedure is performed. As such, the method is perfect for people who had already taken out their tonsils.
