Help With Snoring
Read This Information on Anti-Snoring Devices
May 14, 2009 on 1:29 pm | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsThere are many so-called anti-snoring devices on the market today, from a snore pillow to nasal strips to things that look like the bite guards that athletes wear. If you’ve gotten one from your doctor or dentist, you may be all set, and hopefully it’s working for you. But for those who are still in the market, here is some information to consider about sorting through all those anti-snoring devices and finding the right one for you.
Nasal Strips
One thing to consider is why you snore. For many, their nose is clogged and plugged due to asthma, allergies, dry weather, pollen or dust, or some other factor. When the nasal passages are blocked, the body will obviously cause the mouth to fall open so that one can breathe. When you do this during sleep, you’re probably going to start snoring. So how to stop snoring in these cases, good anti-snoring devices to try are the nasal strips you often see advertised on television and the internet. Many are just spongy strips on a small spring that adhere to your nose and gently pull it open, thereby allowing you to breathe through it.They frequently contain no medicine of any sort, although some are now being offered with a slight coating of menthol which further opens the nasal passages. These are some favorite anti-snoring devices for many because they are affordable, discreet, and don’t require any type of prescription or visit to the doctor’s office to use.
Mouthpieces
There are many types of mouthpieces that are offered as anti-snoring devices, and these typically are gotten from your doctor or dentist. This is because they often need to be custom fitted to your jaw line. These mouthpieces work as anti-snoring devices because they do not allow the tongue to fall into the back of the throat and keep the airway open. They also softly push the lower jaw ahead so that it does not fall open unnecessarily.
If you’re considering mouthpieces as anti-snoring devices, you probably need to speak to your dentist rather than your doctor. He or she can take a mold of your mouth and then form the device there or send it out to a specialist. Most have been shown to be very effective in their use but are usually tried only after all other options have failed, since they can be quite expensive.
What to Remember With Anti-Snoring Devices
Whatever solution you try and ultimately wind up with, make sure that it’s something comfortable and workable for you. It does no good to apply anti-snoring devices that hurt or that keep you up at night; what is the point of curing your snoring if your mouthpiece now keeps you awake or your nasal strip is itchy? And many doctors and dentists recommend using more than one product to work in conjunction or harmony with each other, so don’t be surprised if you are recommended both a mouthpiece and a throat spray, or a nasal strip and a snoring pillow, and so on to stop snoring.

No related postsHow To Eliminate Snoring Through Surgery
May 14, 2009 on 1:29 pm | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsChances are that no one wants to think about surgery, ever.No matter what your trouble or how much you may trust and even like your doctor, the thought of gratuitous and scalpels and the pain and bruising of any type of surgery is just not fun for anyone.Though, there are some new surgeries available today that can absolutely eliminate snoring, and these procedures are typically done on an outpatient basis, meaning you can return to work the next day and experience minimal discomfort. Let’s take a look at these options that will help stop snoring.
Removing the Soft Palate to Eliminate Snoring
Of course, in this type of surgery the doctor does not eliminate the soft palate completely, as the soft palate is simply the area in the back of your mouth not supported by your skull. You can feel it with your tongue, if you slide it over the roof of your mouth. The rationale that this surgery helps to remove snoring is because some cases of snoring are caused by that soft palate vibrating when a person breathes through their mouth, and the tissue obstructs that airway. If there is excessive tissue in the soft palate, cutting away just a layer or two can greatly help eliminate snoring. This widens that passageway and enables air to pass through this area with less obstruction and therefore less vibrating. It may not completely eliminate snoring, but it can reduce it.
Removing the Tonsils and Uvula
By removing the tonsils and uvula, or cutting away some of the tissue surrounding these, your doctor may be able to eliminate snoring the same way that cutting the soft palate does. The airway becomes larger and there is less barrier and therefore less vibration.
For both these types of surgeries, there may not be a need for actual scalpels as many are now being done with lasers. This allows the doctor to make a more precise cut and take away less tissue than with a scalpel and can be a great option as snoring cures.
Building Scar Tissue
If the tissues and membranes in the throat are very flabby, they will vibrate more. Another procedure to help eliminate snoring is to cut or cauterize this area in order to build scar tissue, which makes the throat area stiffer and therefore less likely to vibrate.
Surgeries for the Nasal Cavities
Even those most causes of snoring involve the throat and mouth, you’re really not supposed to be breathing through your mouth in the first place, even when you sleep. Sometimes this happens when there is an obstruction or problem with the nasal cavities, such as from collapsing sinuses due to aging. Another common procedure to help eliminate snoring is to make small incisions along the sinus cavities to open them up, thus allowing a person to breathe much easier through the nose.
How to stop snoring is something only your doctor can determine if any of these procedures are right for you, and if you have any other options available to you in order to eliminate snoring in your case.

No related postsSnoring Treatment Review: Looking For The Best Snoring Treatment Options
May 14, 2009 on 1:29 pm | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsIt might be useful to read a stop snoring treatment review if you’re been urgently looking for a snoring cure but are finding it hard to make a decision. In a snoring cure review, you’ll find independent opinions and experiences from real people about the various snoring remedies that are available.
Over the Counter Remedies of Snoring Treatments
An exmaple of such a company selling snoring treatments on the web is Walgreens, an American drugstore. Features that let customers review and rate their products can be found at their website. Stop snoring products are no different and there are multiple snoring treatment reviews here.
Breathe Right, a popular product, scored by far the highest points, the majority of its users rating the product satisfactory. However, some people reported having problems with the strips staying fastened in the correct way. Sprays designed to help treat snoring scored much lower, the majority of users saying that its effects lasted for less than ten minutes.
Oddly enough, there are no snoring treatment reviews available for electronic devices designed to help cure snoring. These have not been reviewed either at Walgreens.com or with any other online store that sells snoring products. Since these are reasonably new products, it’s best to regard most of them as experimental. In other words be a little skeptical regarding these products as you could be wasting your money.
Snoring Treatment Review: A Clinical Critique
For snoring cures that are sold online, you can usually find user reviews about the product on several websites. Rather than looking at online reviews of treatments, if one is considering having surgical treatment carried out, it’s best to study clinical study reports. For Laser Assisted Uvulo Palatoplasty (LAUP) and radiofrequency, a clinical study will show whether this specific treatment actually works or doesn’t have any effect at all. The U.S. National Institute for Health did carry out such a study, one conducted at the Taichung Veterans General Hospital in Taiwan. In the Autumn of 2005 40 people, both male and female took part. In the study, LAUP was shown to be far more effective than radio frequency treatment. However it was found that those who underwent the radiofrequency treatment did have less pain.
A Snoring Treatment Review: Natural Treatments
It’s often difficult to find a snorint treatment review of alternative or herbal remedies since the scientific establishment sometimes doesn’t rate these types of treatment as valid. Hardly any detailed scientific study has been carried out on these types of new age treatment because the community doesn’t really believe in them. Most home remedies are handed down from one generation to another, and it has to be argued how much of a placebo effect really comes into play with such treatments, are they really that effective? The answers are not easy to find. On the one hand, there’s no real evidence that these types of remedy are harmful at all.
Given the many controversies surrounding the various snoring cures it is best to take a look at more than one stop snoring treatment review so as to ascertain the pros and cons of each one.

May 3, 2009 on 6:35 am | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsAs with many other chronic sleep disorders, there are a lot of so-called cures for snoring on the market today, from fancy pillows to homeopathic remedies and throat sprays and so many more. How do you know if any of these work? And why should you spend all your money on expensive pillows and harsh pills and other medications, if you’re not sure about their effectiveness?
It’s true that many of these snoring remedies actually do seem to work quite well for many people, however, there are some natural remedies and other products you can try that will probably work just as well. You don’t need to spend a ton of money on them either, and they are not invasive or harsh, and will not interfere with other medications you’re taking or other conditions you may have. Many have reported that these natural cures for snoring work just as well as the expensive treatment options they had tried previously, and even helped them to get a better night’s sleep and feel more well-rested all the way around.
Have you ever noticed that a menthol cough drop not only helps soothe your cough but also clears your sinuses as well? The action of the menthol clears away obstructions and built-up mucus in your sinus cavities. Very often a person snores because their nasal cavities are blocked, forcing them to breathe through their mouth.
Ask yourself if you wake up with a very dry mouth or a very sore throat. Does it feel scratchy and irritated in the morning? Is your mouth sticky with plaque buildup? Of course everyone’s mouth is dry in the morning, but if you have some pain and discomfort, you may have your first clue in how to stop snoring.
You need to keep your throat moist and maybe even coated throughout the night. Having a humidifier in the bedroom can be a great help, as can using certain sprays or drops that will add moisture to your throat. Sore throat sprays can do the same job as some stop snoring sprays, as they usually contain the same ingredients.
These are not difficult or expensive cures for snoring, as we’ve said. But before you spend good money on the other products, you might want to give these simple solutions a try.

May 3, 2009 on 6:34 am | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsYou’re not alone if you and your spouse have problems sleeping due to snoring. Nearly a quarter of couples suffer from this troublesome condition.
Problems caused by snoring are not restricted to waking up in the early hours or experiencing repeated restless nights. Continous lack of sleep can be detrimental to your health.
Lack of sleep can also be hazardous in your day to day activities such as driving in heavy traffic. In our busy lives these days, losing focus for a mere nanosecond can cause serious accidents.
A good sleep is essential to your overall physical and mental balance. Not getting enough sleep due to snoring can effect your nerves and can lead to very serious health conditions.
Often, snoring cures can be expensive, especially where surgery is involved and you may already have tried several of these methods.
Here we look at some of common causes of snoring and how a stop snoring exercise program with only a few minutes a day commitment can help you get rid of snoring forever.
In order to be able to cure your snoring, you need to know what is causing it.
The invariable cause of snoring is the blockage of the breathing passage.
Breathing becomes sporadic and irregular rather than free-flowing (as it should be) when the breathing passage is obstructed in some way.
If the air flow is not flowing freely, the soft tissues of the breathing passage are thrown around like a row boat in a typhoon! The consequences are devastating for your partner because your mouth and throat begins to act like speakers.
When the soft palate at the back of the roof of the mouth also begins to vibrate, the noise is amplified. If the soft palate is weak, often the end of it will strike down on the toungue like a stick on a kettle drum.
Curing snoring is not usually easy, even though there is only one main cause. This is because the blockages can vary enormously. To make matters worse, most snorers have multiple blockages effecting and compounding their snoring problem.
Here Are 4 Examples of What Can Cause Snoring…
1) A weak tongue. This can fall into the throat and cause a blockage. This usually occurs when you sleep on your back and sometimes when sleeping on your side.
2) Tense jaw muscles can cause pressure on the breathing passages. A dental implant is often the most common attempt at dealing with this. However, it’s easier to work on loosening up the jaw muscles.
3) The soft palate was mentioned earlier. A weak one will flap around and cause the snoring noise. Note that it’s not the size of the palate but rather, the weakness that causes this problem.
4) Residue in the throat can act as a dam and block the breathing passage. Common substances that cause this are cigarette smoke, fat, or nasal allergies.
So What Can I Do To Improve These Blockages That Cause Snoring?
If you examine the breathing passages and the system of breathing, it’s logical to look at the component parts as parts of your body that can be exercised and toned just as any other part of the body can.
The Stop Snoring Exercise Program is a program that does exactly that.
By applying a few simple exercises, each focused on a particular area of the breathing system, you will remove almost any blockages that are occuring. No matter what is causing the snoring.
To dramatically improve your snoring symptoms, opening up the throat, loosening up the jaw and training the tongue will be effective.
It’s Not About Working Hard, It’s About Working Smart
With the Stop Snoring Exercise Program, It’s entirely up to you how long you exercise every day. A commitment of only 3 minutes a day is enough to get you started.
However, a comittment of ten or more minutes a day will give you quicker, longer lasting results.
It varies a lot between people how quickly the exercises work. It’s recommended that a 2 month commitment to the program would be most effective. The program will most likely stop your snoring quicker than that. But if you can commit to working at it hard for 2 months, you’re almost certain to see great results.
Chek out this review of the Stop Snoring Exercise Program and you may be experiencing nothing but quiet, restful nights in the very near future.

May 3, 2009 on 6:34 am | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsThere are plenty of stop snoring cures around which cost nothing, but which mean that the person with the snoring problem has to make some changes to their lifestyle. Statistically, half the population snores, which means that most households face this problem to some degree. A couple of straight forward snoring remedies could make the difference between both partner and snorer alike getting a good nights sleep.
Stop Snoring Remedies: Health Cures
There are various causes of snoring problems, including colds, allergies, a blocked nose, swollen uvula, enlarged tonsils or a deviated septum. The annoying snoring sound is made by vibration of the soft tissue in the throat or upper palate.
Many people who are overweight also suffer from a snoring problem, because of the extra tissue they have around the throat, which can close off the their air passages while they sleep, thus causing them to snore. Improving your exercise routine and eating a healthier diet not only improves general health but will also help to cure snoring.
Other things that help to reduce snoring are reducing any intake of dairy products, alochol and tobacco. Diary products increase the bodys mucus production causing blocking of the throat and nasal passages whilst alcohol and smoking are known to be causes of snoring. It also helps reduce or eliminate snoring if you do not eat large meals in the evening.
Stop Snoring Remedies: Sleeping On Your Side
Most of us are aware that if a person is sleeping on their back, then their mouth is likely to fall open and this will cause them to snore. These days, stop snoring remedies can take the shape of both preventing the snorer sleeping on their back and preventing the mouth from falling open. There are pillows and mattresses for example that make it almost impossible to sleep on your back because they mold to the shape of your body if you sleep on your side making that position much more comfortable than on your back. To make sure that the mouth remains closed, it’s a good idea to sleep on your side.
Devices such as chin straps, mouth pieces and mouth sealants are other examples of snoring remedies. Mouth pieces are specially molded to fit the shape of the mouth. They work by holding your tongue in place and usually need to be fitted by a dentist. This ensures that the back of the tongue does not fall back into your throat when you are asleep, thus causing you to snore. Usually mouth sealants are a simple strip which helps you to keep you mouth closed while sleeping. To encourage you to breathe through your nose rather than through your mouth, chin straps hold your mouth closed while you sleep.

No related postsWhat Is Idiopathic Hypersomnia?
April 21, 2009 on 5:34 am | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsHaving trouble keeping your eyes open during the day? Your daytime sleepiness could be the result of a prolonged period of inadequate nocturnal sleep. Idiopathic hypersomnia refers to either excessive sleepiness during the day or overly long periods of nighttime sleep. This condition can have an intense or even dangerous impact on your life. In this article, we’ll discuss the symptoms of this sleep disorder and how it can be treated.
Patients suffering from hypersomnia often lose the ability to function in family, social and occupational settings. The condition most commonly impacts teenagers, young adults and people who are overweight. This can exacerbate their weight problems, as their excessive sleep patterns means that they will use less energy. In addition to excessive sleepiness and long nighttime sleeping, symptoms include irritability, mild depression and difficulty concentrating. For this reason, people with hypersomnia should be cautious when driving or operating machinery. Kleine-Levin syndrome is a form of hypersomnia that features slightly different symptoms. Sufferers may sleep for eighteen or more hours a day and are irritable, uninhibited, and make indiscriminate sexual advances. People with Kleine-Levin syndrome often eat uncontrollably and rapidly gain weight. However, this form of recurrent hypersomnia is very rare.
Recurring hypersomnia involves periods of excessive daytime sleepiness that can last from one to many days, and recur over the course of a year or more. With recurring hypersomnia, a person will have prolonged periods where they do not exhibit any signs of the malady. However, persons experiencing idiopathic hypersomnia are affected by it nearly all the time.
Lifestyle can greatly affect the quality of our sleep. Reducing your intake of caffeine, alcohol and other stimulants can help you fall asleep easier and stay asleep longer. Getting into a regular sleep schedule and sticking to it even on the weekends will increase your alertness during the day. For more serious cases of idiopathic hypersomnia, a doctor may prescribe drugs such as Provigi, Ritalin or amphetamines to minimize daytime sleepiness. However, these medications can make you edgy, so tell your doctor if you experience side effects.
In today’s busy world, craving a catnap is nothing out of the ordinary, but regularly falling asleep during movies, dinner, or even in conversation is an indication that there may be a medical condition in play. Idiopathic hypersomnia can greatly affect your ability to enjoy normal activities, so it’s important to get it treated as soon as possible.

No related postsFactors That Are Robbing You From Falling Asleep
April 20, 2009 on 1:33 pm | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsAre you finding it hard to sleep? If so, then this article is for you. Research tells us that getting enough sleep each night is vital not only for your health, but also so you can perform at your best. Yet, many of us are simply not getting the sleep that we need. This is not only true in terms of quantity (i.e. how many hours of sleep) but also quality (i.e. how deeply you sleep). Both are important to ensure optimum health and well being.
So what things could be keeping us from getting enough sleep? Here are some things that could be robbing us of sleep:
1. Environment
The first thing to take a look at is your bedroom. More often than not, in an effort to save money, we just head out to the store and pick up the cheapest mattress and bedding set available. But, considering that we spend one-third of our lives sleeping, a comfortable bed is one of the smartest investments we can make. Also, we need to examine to the lighting, temperature, and noise inside our bedroom. The temperature should be slightly cool and it should be as quiet as possible. Even a little light can disturb our sleep, and so making the bedroom as dark as possible is important as well. The goal here is to make our sleep area as inviting and condusive to sleep as we can.
2. Stress
Another huge factor is the amount of stress we experience during the day. Are you lying in bed at night thinking about the work you have to accomplish the next day or perhaps the frustrations experienced during the previous day? This is a sign that you need to find ways to “de-stress” before trying to get to sleep. In this case, try to actually leave the bedroom and wait until you feel sleepy before you return. The idea is to train your mind and body to associate your bedroom with sleep. A hot bath one hour before bedtime can help you workout your daily stresses before sleeping.
3. Pain
If you are experiencing aches and pains, it could be adversely affecting the quality of your sleep. The best thing is to try to alleviate these pains before you sleep so you can relax. During the night, intense pain or cramps can disturb your sleep - all the more reason to invest in a quality mattress.
4. Nutrition
What you eat can also affect the quality of your sleep. Taking stimulants like caffeine right before bed can make it hard to fall asleep when you need to. Foods that are rich in processed sugar like soda or sweets should also be avoided. Smoking can also make it difficult to sleep because the nicotine in tobacco is also a stimulant. Conversely, there are some foods that have the opposite effect, and can actually help you sleep.
These are just a list of the things that may be affecting your sleeptime. For tips on how to fall sleep quickly, point your browser to http://howtofallasleepfast.net for practical tips on getting to sleep. You’ll also discover some of the best natural sleep aids around.

April 19, 2009 on 8:59 pm | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsTo be able to relax and drift off into a warm and fuzzy state of slumber and wake up refreshed knowing that you have had a good night's sleep has to be one of the best feelings you can encounter.
Can you imagine then how it must feel to know that as many as 1 in 5 of the population have been denied the above, simply because they suffer from insomnia a cruel condition that robs people of vital rest.
Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep and stay asleep. It can affect anyone at any time and at any age. Common insomnia causes include:
Waking up tired and not feeling rested.
Feeling tired or sleepy throughout the day.
Having difficulty focussing on everyday tasks.
Feeling irritable and depressed.
Sleep is essential for good health. It is the body's way of rejuvenating and repairing itself, and without it health problems such as heart disease and diabetes can occur. Indeed studies from New York and Chicago Universities have shown that a good night's sleep can cause you to live longer and even help you to stay thin!
There are two types of insomnia, primary and secondary.
Primary insomnia is insomnia that occurs without an identifiable cause. Secondary insomnia is insomnia that is caused by an emotional, physical or neurological disorder such as stress, grief, pain, jetlag or illnesses such as dementia or Alzheimers.
Secondary insomnia is easier to treat than primary insomnia as you can usually find the cause. When it comes to sleep everybody needs are different and we should have a rough idea of how much sleep we need to function well. The following tips below are known to improve or restore the sleep of the sufferer. We need to be in tune with our body's natural rhythm and try to get up at the same time even on weekends. Try not to take naps during the day. Take moderate and regular exercise such as walking or swimming. Drink alcohol in moderation, it may make you feel sleepy but it can cause you to have a restless nights sleep. Avoid tea and coffee in the evening as it is full of caffeine and will make you more alert. Do not eat heavy or late at night, a classic reason for insomnia. Eat a light meal 4 hours before bed and choose protein foods such as eggs, fish or bake beans as these contain trytophan an amino acid which aids sleep.
Some cures for insomnia include drinking hot milk containing nutmeg as both are calming and can induce sleep.
Sprinkle a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow at night as this has a sedative affect.
Avoid doing anything mentally stimulating before bed, wind down and relax using meditation and yoga to prepare the body for sleep.
Keep your bedroom dark, quiet and well ventilated. Turn off the television or the computer.
Play soft music and make sure that the bed is comfortable.
Doing any or more of the above should encourage sleep to come back and allow you the privilege of a good nights rest.

April 19, 2009 on 8:59 pm | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsOne of the most frequent questions that I get except for “how do I stop snoring”, is “what is causing my snoring”.
Way too often people think they have an idea of what might be causing their snoring. And do you know what? Most of them are wrong, and that’s why they’re still snoring.
Many think that they have to lose weight or stop smoking to stop snoring. I wouldn’t say that doing these things wouldn’t affect your snoring. In fact, it would probably greatly reduce your snoring and maybe even cure it.
(And as a side note, it’s worth mentioning that your snoring might prevent you from losing weight. Seems pretty stupid to try to lose weight to stop snoring when it is your snoring that is keeping your weight in a headlock, right?)
Nevertheless, there are easier ways!
So let’s forget about the issues on the surface that seems to be causing your snoring for one second, and dig down to the very root causes of your snoring.
Very few are looking at the root causes of snoring, even though this, in most cases, is essential to curing snoring.
To really understand that causes of snoring, we need to look at what snoring is really caused by, which is “any narrowing or blockage in the breathing passage”. This is the cause of every single case of snoring, no exceptions.
Now, with this knowledge, it might sound like snoring is something that's easy to cure, but you need to know that this airway block could be located anywhere in your airways.
For example, you might have a tense jaw, which is causing you to sleep with your mouth open, which again creates more resistance in the breathing, making the soft tissues vibrate and cause the snoring sound.
In that case it would make more sense to cure your tense jaw than to lose weight or stop smoking, right?
"Andreas, I don't even know what a tense jaw is?”
Well, actually, I’ve made it very easy. Since I got this question just about all the time, I decided to create a tool that can easily indentify all the root causes of your snoring and give you a list of personalized cures and treatments that you can do at home.
You can actually try it for free, simply by clicking on the link below and entering your first name and email address. I will also give you some good tips that will give you immediate relief of your snoring:

Find your snoring cause and get those quiet nights,

April 19, 2009 on 8:59 pm | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsThe meals you eat can have a direct outcome on the quality of rest you get and, as a matter of fact, there is a direct relationship between sleep troubles & food. The majority of people think little of seizing a “midnight snack” or consuming a late meal but regrettably, doing these things can really be causing you to receive nothing less than a dreadful nights rest.
You need to learn what types of foods cause your sleep issues and start taken them off your food list. The first thing that comes to mind for most people is coffee or other caffeinated produces because these are designed to reduce the feelings of tiredness.
In order to reduce the effect coffee has on your sleep patterns you might drink your final mug prior to three. Coffee can make it hard to sleep, so if you drink coffee at noon try to switch teas instead.
Alcohol can also cause problems with sleep so that always popular drink of wine just before bed may actually be keeping you up. In order to avoid this simply drink prior to dinner time an eliminate the ever popular evening drinks like the nightcap or after dinner glass of bourbon. In order to ensure that a needed bathroom break does not disturb your sleep do not drink ninety minutes prior to going to sleep. You will find it amazing how these little changes in routine will affect the way you sleep.
Remember spicy foods will kick start your circulation making it harder to get to sleep! Some spicy foods can tend to create gastrointestinal issues such as heartburn and indigestion. Spicy foods will make it hard to sleep so try to avoid them if you can. It could be ok to have spicy foods at lunch if you must. You may also want to avoid eating three hours before going to bed because most people do not realize that digestion is a highly active process for the body in both circulation and internal muscles.
Digestion can actually cause you to have a restless night’s sleep or not being able to get fully into the REM and deep sleep stages that occur during the sleep cycle. Your body will be going through the paces of digesting your food so don’t eat anything in the evening before going to bed or you could suffer from sleeplessness. If you happen to have a slow digestion process, then consider eating your dinner at an earlier time.

February 2, 2009 on 12:54 pm | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsThe Remedy for How To Stop Snoring is Different For Everybody
There are several different causes of snoring. Finding the best how to stop snoring remedy for you depends on first discovering what is causing your snoring.
More people than you may otherwise guess either suffer from snoring or live with someone who snores. Therefore it is very likely that you have looked or are still looking for a cure for how to stop snoring. Snoring isn’t only annoying but can also be a sign of serious health problems. If you or someone in your family snores, then you need to know how to stop snoring.
The first essential step to knowing how to stop snoring is to know what the cause is. Since there are several different causes, you want to make sure you know exactly what the culprit is of your snoring so you implement the correct remedy. Choosing the wrong treatment will only cause the sufferer to lose hope and waste time and money.
Are You Out Of Shape?
Being out of shape can cause snoring. This is because snoring is the result of air passing through a narrow throat opening. For some people, the throat is normally wide, but because they are out of shape or over weight, the muscles are loose causing the throat to close while sleeping. In this case, the answer to how to stop snoring is to exercise and lose weight. Take the stairs instead of the elevator for starters, or don’t always look for the parking space closest to the door.
There are also special throat exercises you can do to strengthen the muscles. If you have troubles motivating yourself to exercise your whole body, you could start with doing these throat exercises. For many, they are the best answer to how to stop snoring.
The Dentist May Be Able To Tell You How To Stop Snoring
That’s right!! Your dentist may be able to create a special oral device for you that can help you to stop snoring. If he or she can’t do it themselves, they may be able to refer you to another dentist who can. Give your family dentist a call to find out.
Narrow Nasal Passages
If narrow nasal passages are the cause of your snoring, then maybe nasal strips are how to stop snoring for you. Of course, this won’t work if you have a narrow throat. If you are unsure what is causing your snoring, visit your doctor. If your snoring is indeed the result of narrow nasal passages, then nasal strips are a safe and inexpensive solution that may work well for you.
Do You Drink Alcohol Or Take Medications Before Sleeping?
Alcohol and some medications cause the muscles in your body to relax more than they otherwise would, including the muscles in your throat. Alcohol or medications could either be causing you to snore or making your existing problem even worse. In this case, not drinking and taking medication before bed is how to stop snoring for you.
The answer to how to stop snoring may be much simpler than you think. However, if the cause of your snoring is a narrow throat or nasal passage, then you need to discuss with your doctor which snoring remedy will be the best for you. If narrow throat and nasal passages is indeed the culprit, then your first line of defense would be to learn some special exercises that strengthen the muscles in the throat thereby stopping your snoring.

February 2, 2009 on 11:56 am | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsIs there a surgery for snoring? This question is sure to invite frowns from people who think snorers are only butt of jokes. But the problem of snoring is not so simple and requires some clear insights to reach the roots of the trouble.
More about Snoring
There are two classes of snoring, mild snoring and excessive snoring. Mild snoring is easily curable by change in sleeping position or by avoiding some substance before going to sleep. But if your excessive snoring has caused calamities in your social life then there is every chance that you are suffering from complex sleep apnea disorder. Sleep apnea is a sleeping disorder, which is characterized by faulty breathing, resulting in oxygen deficiency. This is the time to consider surgery for snoring.
Surgery for Snoring
Never neglect snoring. If non-surgical methods like Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), dental devices or anti snoring appliances fail then snoring surgery may be the only resort to cure snoring.
Your doctor will perform a detailed examination of your nose, mouth and pharynx to determine the causes of sleep apnea. The type of snoring surgery to be undertaken depends on the location of excess tissues.
Your surgeon can recommend sleep nasendoscopy before snoring surgery to find out the level of obstruction. The process starts with sedating the patient to a state of sleep then through a narrow flexible endoscope the surgeon examines the upper airway to see where the collapse is occurring.
The Four Main Surgeries To Cure Snoring Are
Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP)
In UPPP the uvula and pharyngeal arches, partially the soft palate and sometimes the tonsils are removed under general anaesthetic. This is the only snoring surgery that increases the problem of the oropharynx. This surgery is helpful for patients in whom palatal obstruction is caused by sidewalls collapsing against each other. This snoring surgery can give rise to some postoperative complications like severe post-operative pain and some prolonged complications like continual palatal dryness, long-term voice changes, nasopharyngeal regurgitation, taste loss and long term voice changes.
Laser-Assisted Uvuloplatoplasty (LAUP)
Laser-assisted uvuloplatoplasty (LAUP) is deemed as a more safe, comfortable and economic alternative to UPPP. The surgery is done under general anaesthetic. In this snoring surgery, the free edge of the soft palate and uvula is vaporized using a laser. This snoring surgery can be repeated unlike UPPP, the number of sessions depend on the patient. Though this process is less complicated than UPPP but there can be postoperative pain after the surgery.
Platal Stiffening Operations (CAPSO)
CASPO or electrical cautery is performed under local anaesthesia. In this snoring surgery, the palate is burned causing fibrosis and subsequent stiffening of the soft palate. The longitudinal strip of mucosa along the soft palate or uvula is also removed. This is a less invasive and less complicated process than both UPPP and LAUP.
Somnoplasty Or Radio- Frequency Ablation
In Somnoplasty, the surplus tissue of the soft palate is reduced by heating the inner tissue to 85 degree centigrade, which scars the tissue beneath the skin. This is a minimalist invasive procedure and takes only about 20 minutes. Though the patient has to undergo a number of treatment sessions but unlike others it is a less painful method. It is useful for turbinate and palate based snoring.
When everything fails then the only option left is surgery for snoring.

January 30, 2009 on 8:55 am | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsThe best help with snoring problems are long-lasting preventative remedies.

The best help with snoring problems is that which gets at the root of the problem. That’s not to say the prescriptive solutions don’t have their place. prescriptive remedies do play an important role in helping you cure snoring, but they are temporary and not to be the reason for overlooking preventative snoring remedies that can actually cure snoring forever.
Preventative Help With Snoring Problems
The help with snoring problems that fall in the preventative category cure your snoring as opposed to hiding it or compensating for it. Your long term plan for curing snoring should involve these strategies. There are likely three reasons why you snore. Find out which of these reasons apply to you and then treat it in order to get rid of snoring permanently. Those three reasons are:
- Weight
- Allergies
- soft palate tissue
Lose Weight To Stop Snoring
If you are overweight, it is very likely that this is the very cause of your snoring. The best help with this snoring problem is simply to lose some weight. Sometimes losing only ten pounds is often enough to stop or greatly reduce your snoring. If losing this weight doesn’t help, then try losing another ten pounds. Keep losing weight in increments of ten pounds until the snoring stops. You can also use the next remedy to help further. All other kinds of help with snoring problems pale in comparison to the effectiveness of this solution.
Controlling Allergies Can Help With Snoring Problems
The cause of your snoring could be due to congestion resulting from allergies. One of the best things you can do if you have serious allergies is to cut sugar out of your diet. This includes all fruit juice. Even though 100% natural orange is all natural, the natural sugars in it still feed your allergies and make them worse. If you want to enjoy fruit to be healthy, then eat it. The concentration of sugar is a lot lower.
In addition, if you have sever allergies then make sure you have allergy-proofed your house. Don’t get lazy about this.
Strengthening Throat Tissue To Stop Snoring
Finally, the cause of your snoring could be due to flabby throat tissue. Just like any other flabby tissue or muscle on your body, if you exercise it, it will harden and become stiff. There are serious of throat exercises you can do to strengthen the tissue in your throat and the muscles in your neck and jaw that will stop snoring. Do these exercises daily to stop snoring.
Short Term Help With Snoring Problems
This kind of help with snoring problems only covers up the malady rather than treating it. I wouldn’t suggest using any of these kinds of remedies exclusively because at the end of the day you will still be a snorer. However, they are very useful for stopping snoring right now if this is necessary. These remedies include:
- Chin Straps
- Mouth Pieces
- Snoring Sprays
- Pillows
The list goes on. None of these successfully help with snoring problems for everybody because no solution is one-size-fits-all. You will need to experiment with them to find out which one helps you.
The greatest help with snoring problems are the home remedies for snoring that get at the root of the problem and cure your snoring completely. The short term remedies are appropriate for short term use while you are implementing one of the preventative approaches.

January 30, 2009 on 6:56 am | In Remedy For Snoring | No CommentsI’m going to talk about the different types of laser surgery for snoring available today. Snoring can be considered as one of life’s major problems. It can affect you and your sleeping partner. A permanent solution to snoring is laser surgery.
This type of surgery is the best solution for snoring problems to date. It is popular because its effect is permanent and is technically safe. The effectiveness of laser surgery for snoring is evidenced by uvuloopalatopharyngoplasty or UPPP.
But to be really safe, you have to be in the hands of an expert when undergoing this type of treatment therapy. You need the help of a qualified health expert. After surgery and the required recovery time, you will experience an almost immediate relief to snoring.
If you compare laser surgery to the tools and devices used for snoring, the former would fair better. All others can only provide for a temporary solution to snoring. Laser surgery, on the other hand, can give permanent relief. This is why laser UPPP is the one most popular today.
While there are other types of laser surgery for snoring, only one thing is their main goal - to remove all the blockages present in your mouth or throat that are causing you to snore. The uvuloopalatopharyngoplasty or the UPPP is a type of laser surgery that aims to remove the patient’s tonsils, along with some parts of the uvula and soft palate.
There are actually two kinds of laser surgery for snoring. The more preferred type is laser-assisted, which is the main point of interest here. When it comes to price, the laser-assisted UPPP is a lot cheaper than traditional UPPP. Here, the uvula will not be removed totally, rather it is shortened. The soft palate will be vaporized with the use of the laser beam.
The other type of UPPP is referred to the traditional method. That one requires the use of anesthesia. If laser-assisted surgery is performed under local anesthetic, traditional UPPP surgery needs general anesthesia.
The only problem with this method is the fact that the tonsil should be removed before the actual procedure is performed. As such, the method is perfect for people who had already taken out their tonsils.
